protecting our environment
I support The Green New Deal: "Create millions of jobs by transitioning to 100% clean renewable energy (wind, solar, water etc.) by 2030, investing in public transit, sustainable agriculture, and conservation. Protect our public lands, water supplies, biological diversity, parks, and pollinators. Label GMOs, and put a moratorium on GMOs and pesticides until they are proven safe. Protect the rights of future generations."
I also believe in cruelty-free farming and reject the overuse of antibiotics in our animals. In Spain, and other parts of the world, egg yolks are a healthy orange color. What is going on with our eggs? Furthermore, I believe in the right to grow your own organic garden and raise livestock. The federal government has no right to come into your home and remove your garden or kill your livestock. For that matter, the government as no right to force farmers to use pesticides, antibiotics or any other chemicals which the farmer does not wish to use.
In my opinion, the best path to defend our Earth is to gain real representation for US and the planet. Unfortunately, we have a political situation in which many aspects of government are compromised by fossil fuel lobbyists. For example, in Richmond, CA, it was common knowledge that the city council was owned by Chevron. In 2012, Richmond was hit hard by a Chevron fire. People went as far as to put towels under there doors to keep out the smoke. Some lovely citizens, who realized the need to replace Chevron politicians with People politicians, started the Richmond Progressive Alliance or RPA. This orginization has slowly but surely managed to replace several Chevron puppets on city council with RPA members. Only after winning proper representation were the citizens of Richmond able to start making positive changes in their community. In summary, the problem we face with Climate Change is not as much caused by We the People taking long showers or using the wrong lightbulbs. On the contrary, it is almost entirely caused by our 'representatives' who actually represent Big Oil, Big Agra, and the military industrial complex. With disregard for the Planet we inhabit, these representatives, lobbyists and fat cats push for more profits, more fossil fuels and the occasional underwater nuclear test.
